Choose Ye This Day!!!

"And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the god which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."(Joshua 24:15)

At the dawn of each new day, we as Christians (believers in Jesus Christ and His teaching) are faced with the power of choice with regards to this scripture out of the Book of Joshua. We can allow Sovereign God's rules and regulations to be the standard or guide for our lives or we can bow down and submit to the world and its standards of living through the power of choice. Choice is the act of picking between two or more possibilities, and further defined as the power of choosing between two or more possibilities. God gives us the power to choose in life, however;  He does not force us to choose between good and evil, but if we seek Him for divine direction, He will empower us to make the right decisions in life for ourselves and for our families. Since we will have to make decisions each and every day for the rest of our lives, we must seek God for wisdom, knowledge and understanding each step of the way. My oldest son wrote the following poem below and it says better what I want to say about making  good choices in our lives. It goes as follows:

 LIFE IS

LIFE IS A MYSTERY

WAITING TO BE DISCOVERED

LIFE IS A TRIP

WAITING TO BE TAKEN

LIFE IS A COURT CASE

WAITING TO BE JUDGED

LIFE CAN BE GOOD OR BAD

WHATEVER YOU DECIDE

BUT WHEN YOU CHOOSE

WHAT LIFE IS

I WARN YOU TO CHOOSE IT WISE!

WRITTEN BY MY SON:

I particular like the line where he states: "Life is a court case waiting to be judged. Life can be good or bad; whatever you decide, but when you choose what life is, I warn you to choose it wise!" We as Christians (believers in Jesus Christ and His teaching) have the upper hand on making better choices in life because we have our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to help us each day through the divine presence of the Holy Spirit. He tells us in His word that He was going away to prepare a place for us and that He was going to come again for us, however; in the meantime, He sent the Holy Spirit back to the earth to empower us to live a life filled with hope of better things to come each day. (John 16:5-15) We as Christians, (believers in Jesus Christ and His teaching) must choose life at a higher and better standard in this world, so that we can be an example to all who are searching for a better life to live as we all await the Coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Lastly, we must make a choice as Joshua had to make back in his day. "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord".
